Suffolk awaits imminent Government decision on Lowestoft third crossing

The Secretary of State for Transport, Grant Shapps has today stated that a decision on the future of the proposed Lake Lothing Third Crossing for Lowestoft, will be made by Tuesday 5May.

The Secretary of State had received the Examining Authority’s report in September last year and a decision was initially due on the 5 of December 2019. However, this was delayed, and it is now expected that a decision of whether or not the project to build the third crossing can go ahead will be announced next week.

Leader of Suffolk County Council, Matthew Hicks, said:

“I know there is a huge appetite in Lowestoft and the surrounding area for this project to continue and so I am pleased that we have a new date to work towards.

“I look forward to receiving an announcement by Tuesday 5 May which will tell us if we have permission from Government to build the crossing.”
